JUNE HIGGINS

June Higgins (1955-2023) was a student at VISA from 2005-2017, however she started taking art courses in 1984 at the Victoria College of Art. She studied art on a part-time basis while working full-time for the Government of British Columbia. June completed a Diploma of Fine Arts at VISA in 2017 (while still working full-time at her government job). After completing her Diploma, she made the decision to retire and commit to her art practice on a full-time basis. She began this journey by moving to the UK for a year and completing her BFA at the University of Gloucestershire, in Cheltenham, UK. When she returned to Canada, she obtained a studio space and devoted her days to her artwork and participated in several exhibitions. The last exhibition of her work was at the Gage Gallery in September 2022. VISA is grateful to the Higgins Family for the donation of work to raise money for the school. All proceeds from sales go directly to the programming at VISA.
